Kerala Blasters FC have officially completed the signing of English forward Andre Green on a free transfer, and the 28-year-old attacker has already linked up with the squad for his first training session. Green has committed to a contract with the club that runs until the end of the 2026-27 Indian Super League season, making him the team’s first major overseas signing of the current transfer window. Following the official announcement, he directly joined the Kerala Blasters’ pre-season camp in Chennai, signalling his readiness to integrate quickly and contribute to the squad’s preparations for the upcoming campaign.
Andre Jay Green was born on July 26, 1998, in Solihull, England. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches, he is a versatile wide player who can operate as a left winger, right winger, or secondary striker. Green grew up through the youth ranks of Aston Villa, joining the club’s academy in 2006. He made his senior debut in 2015 and went on to feature for Villa in both the English Championship and the Premier League. His career has seen him gain significant playing time across the English football pyramid, with loan or permanent spells at clubs like Portsmouth, Preston North End, Charlton Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday, and Rotherham United. Before arriving in India, Green expanded his career abroad, playing for Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia, where he won consecutive league titles, as well as Greek side Panserraikos and Portuguese club AVS Futebol SAD. He has also represented England at the youth level, earning caps for the U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19, and U-20 national setups.
Green is a highly versatile and dynamic wide player who prefers operating on either flank. Known for his raw pace, close dribbling control, and ability to challenge defenders in one-on-one scenarios, he is expected to inject significant explosive power into the Blasters’ frontline as they gear up for the gruelling ISL season. His experience in competitive European leagues and his pedigree as an Aston Villa academy product make him a valuable addition to Ashley Westwood’s squad. The coach personally identified Green as a top overseas priority due to his tactical flexibility, and his ability to deploy across multiple attacking positions gives Westwood valuable options in the final third.
The signing of Andre Green marks a strong start to Kerala Blasters’ foreign recruitment under the new Al Fursan consortium ownership. With the pre-season camp underway and more signings expected to follow, the club is assembling a competitive squad for the 2026-27 campaign. Green’s arrival signals the new ownership’s intent to invest in quality foreign talent and provide the coaching staff with the tools needed to challenge for honours. Fans will be eager to see him in action as the season approaches, and his first training session with the Blasters is a promising indication that he is ready to make an immediate impact.
