Manjappada has officially lifted its stadium boycott and announced that the fans are returning to the stands to support Kerala Blasters FC for the upcoming 2026-27 Indian Super League season. The primary supporters groups, including Manjappada and BlastersCorner, issued official statements confirming the complete withdrawal of their protests following the historic club takeover. The decision marks a significant moment of reconciliation between the fanbase and the club, ending a period of tension that had cast a shadow over the previous season.
The boycott was originally triggered by heavy fan frustration regarding the previous management’s sporting direction, poor performances, a string of mid-season coach sackings, and a perceived disconnect with the fanbase. The fans chose to return due to a massive structural reset at the club. The acquisition of 100% of the club’s shares by the UAE-based consortium Al Fursan Sports Investment served as the turning point, with fan groups stating that the new ownership provides a necessary “opportunity to begin a new chapter.” The fans also acknowledged the departure of the former Sporting Director, whose recruitment structure and long-term planning had been a central target of the supporters’ protests.
In their official release, Manjappada stated, “With new ownership in place, we believe there is an opportunity to begin a new chapter. Therefore, we are withdrawing the boycott. The stands are calling us home for the new season.” Similarly, the prominent fan wing BlastersCorner posted a celebratory announcement declaring, “The wait is over. BlastersCorner officially withdraws the boycott and returns to the stadium with renewed hope, passion, and pride.” These statements reflect a renewed sense of optimism and unity among the fanbase as they prepare to back their team once again.
The decision ensures that the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi will return to its iconic, full-capacity “Yellow Sea” atmosphere. The new UAE owners explicitly noted that the unparalleled passion of the Manjappada fanbase was one of the single biggest reasons they decided to invest ₹120 crore into the club. The fans will be back in full voice starting with Kerala Blasters’ first home fixture of the regular season against Mumbai City FC on October 25, 2026. With the boycott lifted and new ownership in place, the upcoming season promises a fresh start for the club and its passionate supporters.
