The All India Football Federation has confirmed a blockbuster lineup of international friendlies for the Indian men’s national team, with three World Cup-playing nations set to visit the country within the same FIFA window. The Blue Tigers will face Panama in Bengaluru on September 26, followed by five-time world champions Brazil at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on October 3, and two-time champions Uruguay at the same venue on October 6. This marks the highest-ranked opposition India have faced since the FIFA World Ranking was introduced in 1992 .
The three matches represent an unprecedented opportunity for Indian football to showcase itself on a global stage. The Brazil clash will mark the first time India faces the five-time world champions, with the Brazilian delegation having already inspected the Salt Lake Stadium and expressed satisfaction with the preparations. Uruguay’s visit will be their first to Kolkata in nearly 44 years—they last played in the city in 1982 during the inaugural Nehru Gold Cup, where a young Enzo Francescoli captivated local fans. The current Uruguayan side is coached by Diego Forlán, who played for Mumbai City FC in 2016.
